Dennis,
This is not a a real ethical delemma. Simply remove the 'prominent'
display of her name and, if there's a credit's page, create an 'Original
Site Design by', type of attribution to her, if only to assuage your
conscience. However, you should definitely remove any email references
to her and have a maintainer/webmaster link added for yourself on each
page. The delemma would come if you tried to take credit for her work,
implicity or explicitly, which you should not do.
BTW, 'prominent' or vanity style attribution went out of vogue in the
90's - today it's better ot be discreet.
