Depends on if it thinks it is a "local, fixed disk."
It might be using a LDM disk label ("dynamic disk").
It is interesting to say the least.
XP _might_ be disabling various features in the NTFS system.
Also, XP Home works _very_different_ than 2000/XP/2003 Pro/Server.
Microsoft disables a lot of things, that helps prevent corruption on
NTFS because users tend to do such things.

If people can learn that the NTFS support is not a Linux issue, but a
NTFS issue itself, then it helps.
