Greetings.

I FINALLY got those files transferred.
What did not work;
- On Linux, mounting the destination directory as a samba share, and 
then doing a "cp -r" command.  Errored out on "Invalid file size" at 2GB 
copied.
- Putting file in public_html, to be served by Apache.  Apache refused 
to display ANY of the contents of that directory.

What did work;
Installing SAMBA Server, (I had NOT wanted to do that on this particular 
machine), and using MS Explorer to copy files from the Linux machine to 
the MS machine.

Thanks for the assistance.  Posting the eventual solution here, so that 
if anyone else runs into this, they can at least get a work around.
