Welp - it really does pay to RTFM twice & in-depth.
If you're working with this chipset, NVidia has included a technology
they call, "TwinView" which makes the X session 'think' it's just
outputting to one monitor (where the card handles the splitting).
Had to change XF86Config file to the following:
