The Linux Documentation Project has some very good online and hard copy 
recommendations.

Just a couple I found worth the read.

   Linux Network Administrator's Guide
   Linux System Administrator's Guide

Not Linux specific but will help you understand and learn *nix OSes

   TCP/IP Network Administration
   Essential System Administration

Samba specific

   Samba-3 by Example

You don't need Samba unless you'll have a Windows box attached to your 
network and sharing files and/or login accounts.  A Windows workstation 
can live on your TCP/IP network right out of the box.
