We use both SUSE and Red Hat (though we all lean SUSE).
We use it on high end systems including zSeries, iSeries and
Itanium as well as multi-CPU Xeon (sorry no Opterons yet...
that's going to change this year).
Since we're a software development shop, we have about
25 people using Linux (SUSE) as their primary desktop.
For that, we purchased a CrossOver license and run
either Office 2K or Office XP (our corporate std is
still MS Office). We also have a site license for
VMware workstation, so everyone can use that as well.
My desktop is a dual 2.4Ghz Xeon with 2.5G ram running
SuSE 8.2 (a rock solid version of SuSE... I have not
found the need to upgrade yet). It has an Nvidia
workstation card in it... does 3D, but it's a rare
config.
We support Compaq/HP n610c laptops as well ML330 and XW6000's
for our SUSE desktops.
We also have tons of Solaris, HPUX, AIX, etc... not just
Linux, and we even do Windows, though it's not the primary
platform.
Presco Products in Sherman also uses Linux. I did most of
their conversion work. They are still a mixed shop (Windows,
Netware, Linux), but a good portion of their critical
infrastructure is on Linux now. My goal there was to
provide an easy to manage dhcp/dns environemnt with
single sign-on along with normal file/printer services.
Most all of their accounting is also done on Linux (their
accouting software runs on Linux

Chris
