[NTLUG:Discuss] what companies are using linux in the dfw area?

My company is using linux for email servers (primary mail server is
Windows/Domino but that's in the process of changing), gateways
(controlling employee Internet access with squid), file and print
servers (in the process of moving all Windows NT 4 servers to linux,
about half way through), and have a 50 station desktop deployment using
LTSP and thin clients in our call center. We have standardized on White
Box Enterprise Linux 3. Our web servers currently run Windows and
Domino Web server. We will be switching to Linux Apache with a
customized version of EOne Commerce running on top and DB2 underneath in
February. Our backend stuff all runs on OS/400 and DB2, linux
connectivity with DB2 is excellent.

Challenges remaining: we have a lot of custom data collection apps
written in Foxpro such as the app that collects data from product check
weighers, oven temps, product shipment scanners, employee time clock
system, etc. Some of that stuff will take years to root out because it
works and would be expensive to replace. We will be replacing Office 98
apps with OOo 2 when it is released next year. I expect near riot
conditions over trivial and immaterial matters when that occurs.

We have a total freeze on buying any MS licenses. We aggressively audit
software installations and will fire anyone we find with unlicensed
software of any kind.
