Just FYI, there _are_ 3 major versions of PKZip in circulation, version
2, 4 and, now, 6.
I don't know if any of the Freedomware supports anything but version 2.
PKWare did release a Linux port of its version 4 tools, not sure about
6. Version 6 integrates RSA public key encryption to solve the issues
with version 2/4's inherent, simplistic and very crackable encryption.
Luckily most people only use version 2, because of the proliferation of
3rd party Standardware/Commerceware like WinZip, etc...

Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) assumes experts for the former, costly
retraining for the latter, omitted "software assurance" costs in
compatible desktop OS/apps for the former, no free/legacy reuse for
latter, and no basic security, patch or downtime comparison at all.
