[NTLUG:Discuss] FD 2 - RPM update

I am trying to move from FC2 to Mandrake 10.1 and my system jams at looking for RPM packages.
I got this Jam earlier also when I was trying to update my RPMs.
I did the initialise and rebuild database commands but still a problem.
I think I want to physically delete the database and rebuilt but cannot find where it is. At least did not recongnose it by name in all the dirs shown at Whereis rpm.
Is this the problem? Any suggestions ?
