Still depressed, at least somewhat.  However, they are better than they 
were a year ago, or so it seems to me.  But as Paul indicated, if you 
have very specific business knowledge, or a very niche skill, salaries 
are "normal" because of little supply for that demand.

Can't tell you about Java personally as I don't really track that.  I am 
starting to see Linux show up in the listings more often. :-)

The sad part about all this is there is a job out there for most of us 
looking, it's just a matter of finding it and then winding your way thru 
the company's HR maze to get it.  I've heard (for years & years & and 
again a few weeks ago) that 80% of all job openings never see the 
"public forums"; I wished I could know if that really is true.  I find 
tapping into 80% (or whatever it really is) to be difficult.
