I use LSI Megaraid (Elite 1600, U320-2) with no major problems.
They can have quirks, but often times a flash fixes the issue.
Oddly enough, on the cheap (?) side, the cciss stuff is used on
Compaq/HP boxes (their onboard raid) works very well. I've never
had a problem with them at all. Not sure if that's practical
outside of buying an HP box though. Performance isn't
outstanding, but they seem to be very, very reliable.
