Couple of thoughts.....
If given a choice, I like to install a new drive ( $60 for an 80 gig
drive or cheaper )
and install on the new drive. That way, you can boot either version if
needed.
You can configure grub to boot either the old or the new version. Once
the
new version is up and running, you can still have access to your older
files and
copy them from the old filesystem to the new filesystem as needed.
As for Fedore Core -vs- RH Enterprise....
I've always downloaded the latest, 'Free' images and went with that.
You
most likely don't need hard copy docs and you can get support from
google
or the local news groups. If you feel you have to give RH some $$$, buy
their stock. I'm not aware of anything on the 'enterprise' edition that
you can't get from the internet.
I've installed Fedora Core FC3 on 6 production machines ( 2 servers and
4 desktops ) and have been pretty happy with it. The only issue is the
one
box that had RH9 + ximian desktop and was upgraded instead of a full
install.
That machine has some issues that I think are ximian file related.
