If you are looking for text to speech in linux festival is the current
defacto standard. As for voice quality the at&t product is simply superb to
anything else I have seen but I too have not seen it running in linux yet.

Subject: [NTLUG:Discuss] text-to-speech recommendation

I need a recommendation for how to do text-to-speech in Linux. I'd like
to use AT&T's Natural Voices but need a front end for it. I'm currently
using Read Please on my Windows PC and want to do something similar on
Linux. (Read Please does not have a Linux version.)

Note - I don't want or need voice recognition. Also, I'll be on SUSE
9.2, but would like an approach that would work with a variety of
distributions.

Thanks,

Ed
