Actually I see 2 sides to this:

Using a DVD-only approach will certainly exclude those who don't have
DVD drives but also one could argue that GAMERS are never ones to skinp
when it comes to hardware. Alienware is evidence of that fact. Also, you
will be able to include ALOT of demos and full versions: UT2004 Demo,
Armericas Army, Enemy Territory, etc.

On the flip side, using a CD will reach a wider audience with fewer
games.

So I would say that you need to determine your market and GO FOR IT!

If you are wanting to get gamers, then the DVD is the only way because
the content will be more compelling. 

If you are wanting to get normal PC users, then CD is the way.
