So, the router is "working".  What exactly do you mean by that?  Same for 
the NIC - what do you mean by "working"?  Getting a light on the NIC is 
one thing - getting it to associate to an AP or router is different.

Is WEP turned on on the router?  If so, turn it on on the NIC.  Make sure 
to use the same strength (64 or 128 bit).  Also, some NICs and 
APs/routers don't create the same key from the same passphrase because 
the key generation algorithms are different.  You may have have to enter 
the key manually.

To start troubleshooting, turn WEP off on the router and the NIC and 
see if you can make a connection in the "wide open".  If so, enable WEP 
on the router and then on the NIC and try again.
