I'm using a Zalman CPU cooler and an Antec fan with variable speed

relates to an AMD Athlon, but it will provide you with places to find
the cooling and quieting pieces.

During the summer, I had failures with an AMD processor, which led me to
put this article together. 

I prefer AMD processors for many reasons - the heat is a side effect of
performance. But you can control it.
