Neither variety of card have OpenSourced drivers - but if you are happy
with binary-only drivers then without a shadow of a doubt you should get
nVidia - the ATI drivers aren't all that stable.
If you do choose nVidia, make sure you get at least a GeForce 5000 or 6000
series card (also known as GeForce FX). These have major features that none
of the earlier cards come with - they aren't just a simple speedup over previous
generations.
