Thanks all, Terry, Bryan, and Chris. It had been awhile since I've compiled a 
kernel, so the 'make dep' didn't come readily to mind. When that didn't 
produce the desired result, I googled some more, ran across the 'make 
prepare-all' command, but still no juice. The combo of 'make cloneconfig && 
make prepare-all' did the job. I now 
have /usr/src/linux/include/config/modversions.h. Cool! Now on to wrestle 
some more with the driver compile.
