Howdy,
  Welcome aboard.  I think people here will generally be pretty helpful
if we sense that the person asking the question is trying.
  As for your list of reasons, freedom is number one in my book.  I
don't even mind Microsoft making an 85 percent profit margin, if they do
it by delivering value to their customers.  It is the contempt they
actually show for their customers that drove me away.  I liked Windows
and I did not like Linux at first.  I forced myself to learn and there
is so much more still to learn.  But, I can use a Linux machine pretty
well now and using Windows is like having to ride a bicycle with
training wheels and a governor.
