Howdy,
I don't know what you mean by saying "which should be running Win2K".
Is that a comment that any Windows users should upgrade to Win2K. I
have a couple of Windows 98 laptops. One has only 40 meg(and can't go
higher) and Win2K would not be nice there. The other is a machine I
keep just for testing apps on Win98. It has 64 meg and I hope to go to
96 meg soon.
All three of those applications should run fine on Win 98. I run
Firebird and OpenOffice 1.1.4 on Windows 98SE, so I can personally speak
to those. They are a bit sluggish, but usable, on the machine with 40
meg ram and are fine on the machine with 64 meg.
I have tried a few Linux distros on the Toshiba with 40 meg, but I
have not found one I could install that I liked using. That machine is
a third string backup, anyway, but I keep it useful. It is a powerful
P133.
Good luck,
Ralph
