[NTLUG:Discuss] Postfix Spam Blocking

Hello Paul,

I run several public mail servers that deliver mail via IMAP and also
relay to Exchange servers.

Here is the best solution so far that I have found:

-Postfix with LDAP lookup tables
-Courier Imap for POP3/Imap server
-Maildrop for local delivery to virtual mailboxes (shell account not
required on server for user to receive/access email)
-Amavisd-new
-ClamAV with auto-updates twice daily
-Spamassassin 3 with auto-daily updates via Rules De Jour
-Bayesian filtering

The next thing to add is greylisting...more research....

What led me to set this up was the fact of getting 1 spam/virus every 10
minutes. None of them affected/infected my server or workstation (both are
linux of course). But the SPAM stopped immediately. That was about 8
months ago, and I still get some spam. BUT I would rather get some spam
then have to sort through a quarantine all day...I have friends that have
spent a good portion of their work week doing just that.

Enjoy!
Dave Augustus
