I use Mandrake 10.1-x86-64 and I compile both 32- and 64 bit apps 
without problems.

Libraries are stored in the (/usr)/lib or (/usr)/lib64 directories as 
needed.

The compiler checks for 32 bit code and runs the appropriate MAKE 
commands.  It just works.

No changes at all from the user end of the deal, except for occaisonally 
knowing which /lib location to store stuff.

Very Cool.
