hmmm, typed variables, structures, & and * notation - imho, not the place to start.

i've had to write or read code in many languages such as ibm 1401 autocoder, 
rpg, fortran, ibm/360 assembler, pl/1, cobol, c etc... having moved to linux in 
1994 and then discovering discovering perl, all i can say is WOW (not an acronym).

i would cast my vote for perl.
