And for people using compact flash cards for various embedded style
applications? I think it is a worth wild endeavor to figure out how to get
rid of all the internationalization that has been done to most all distros
now.

Put it in context. How much space?
Since you can buy a 200Gb drive for under $200, storage is costing
you about one cent for every 10Mbytes. I would be quite suprised
if there was more than 20 cents worth of storage consumed by that
stuff.
If you pay yourself minimum wage, it cost you more to type this
email than the storage for that stuff cost. It's just not worth
the effort to delete them! ...and if even one program seizes up
because it can't find something it thinks it needs - then you
would have been FAR better off to let sleeping dogs lie.
