I believe the difference is that the SuSE default user setup does not
put the /sbin directory into your search path unless you are root. Evidently,
Fedora puts /sbin on every user's search path.
You could fix that in your '.profile' or '.login' script - but alternatively,
you might recognise that those commands are things that you would normally
have to be 'root' to execute and so an 'su -' before you run them.
