I know what you mean. I use SuSE on one machine, and with every version,
it has done wacky things that don't even feel like "linux" to me. I'm at
SuSE 9.1 now, and right after it was installed, for days, the system was
extremely busy. It continuously tried to hotplug a usb device it had no
driver for. Playing music was full of clicks and hang ups. There was a
problem with ipv6... Even more insulting is all the crippled packages
(because someone somewhere might claim IP violation) without telling you
that they had crippled it. I upgraded from 8.2 when the box started
locking up up hard after exactly 2 hours (regardless of activity). It
seemed OK for a while and now it's back! No where do I see any 2 hour
settings, and of course I've tried disabling all the apm/acpi/bios things.
grrr,
Kyle
p.s. I would dump the suse mailman package and go for an official release
from mailman.sf.net
