Probably change it in /etc/sysconfig/harddisks
(USE_DMA=1)

The comment says that the kernel(??) should just
do the right thing (in respect to enabling DMA), but
there a plethora of cases where this will likely fail.
So I'd change that value in sysconfig and see
if that helps.
