What I have heard about how to do what you want is this:

Install XP inside VMWARE. Connect your device to the PC and ensure that
XP can see the device via USB. Once the device is *seen* by the XP
session, you can get the information *probably* via the usb file system.

I heard that someone did something similar to get some other USB device
to work- never done this myself.
