When the topic of Less came up in the 10AM training class, I raised the 
question of if Less would append data to a "live" file being viewed. The 
answer is Yes. When you open a log file for a running process with less, 
the new data will be added to the existing less session whenever a 
command is issued to less by the user.
Think   tail -f   with the ability to search like vi.
