I am not exactly sure what you are asking, so let me ask, will 'top' do
what you need? Under most implementations that I have seen, 'top' will
provide some clue as to the memory usage for any given process Possibly
you could explore running 'top' in batch mode and retrieving the data
for use in another program or database.
