I'm not sure what ttyS00 means, other than the fact that serial is yet
to be assigned. May need to get / use 'setserial'
(I'm thinking that serial port may be unassigned.)
(If there are no jumpers on the board for serial port assignment, it
will require a software solution to assign serial port.)
Have you investigated the Linux software:

(I know that Slackware comes with a tool called rpm2tgz and I'm assume
/ hope Debian has something comparable, right?)
