Rick--

I don't want to start a religious war here, but for older PCs, I'd
recommend bypassing the bloat and convoluted installation processes
and go with Slackware.  Version 10.1 is out, it's all on one CD image
(provided you don't want or need the sources), and doesn't choke
during installation just because you don't have cutting-edge hardware.

We use Slackware in our Linux labs at North Lake College after discovering
RH, Fedora, etc. were just too picky about what kind of hardware they
wanted to run on.  Slack just works!
