[NTLUG:Discuss] SuSE8.2 w/ Viewsonic VP201 LCD monitor

I'm trying to get a ~new monitor running at 1600x1200
w/ SuSE8.2.

I start yast2 --> hardware --> graphics card/monitor
-->

then I try to select from the possible Viewsonic
monitors, and
the VP201 is not there. So, I select VX2000 since it
also is native 1600x1200,
hit "accept",  exit yast2 and restart X. Note: VX2000
is  similar to the VP201
but doesn't have the panel rotate and height
adjustment features.


I'm getting some faint vertical banding across the
entire screen, so something
is not right with the VX2000 selection. The monitor
works fine w/ winXP.

Question1: does the newer SuSE9.x have the VP201
selection under yast?
<or>
Question2: is this more likely a problem with the
drivers for the ATI Radeon
7500 video card?
the current drivers for this card are what came with
the SuSE install CD's.
