I use gmane.org for the pmwiki-users mailing list and it works 
*very* nicely, especially for searchable archives.  (Several subscribers
use it exclusively to participate in the discussions.)

It's very easy to set up -- basically set up a gmane account and 
then subscribe that account to the listserv(s) of interest.

Gmane also generates some useful statistics on message traffic -- see,
for example, http://dir.gmane.org/gmane.comp.web.wiki.pmwiki.user .
