Bless you, Terry, that did it. I guess Bugzilla forgot to tell me to
re-prelink.
A couple of points in case somebody else needs to re-prelink:
1. doing /usr/sbin/prelink -af results in numerous messages about
unresolved dependencies. I captured a list of these msgs just in case
but it looks like they can be ignored.
2. after re-prelink, don't shutdown in a terminal window. I tried and
FC3 looped endlessly. I don't know if this works but I suggest
Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get to a logon screen, log in as root, then shutdown.
