[NTLUG:Discuss] Sendmail / Fetchmail Question

The two servers on my LAN have just been upgraded to CentOS 4 from
Fedora Core 2 and Red Hat 8.0. Program versions have changed, default
settings have changed, and I'm have trouble getting the mail running
again.

Let's call the two servers mail.server and other.server. Mail.server
runs sendmail/fetchmail/pop3 and Windows clients look to mail.server
for pop3 and to the isp for smtp.

Sendmail also runs on other.server, but only to handle things like
Logwatch and Cron Daemon reports. 'root at other.server' is aliased to
'root at mail.server' and all mail is delivered through mail.server.

After the upgrade, almost all of the mail was working as before but
root at other.server mail was not being delivered. The mail was still in
the other.server sendmail queue and maillog indicated "Connection
refused by mail.server"

Mail.server's sendmail was listening on loopback, so I changed it to
listen on its internal IP. That worked, and the queue on other.server
immediately emptied as the mail was delivered. But then fetchmail
was having trouble because sendmail wasn't listening on loopback.

I played with smtpaddress (replacing localhost) and smtphost in
fetchmailrc, but that seems to be going in the wrong direction.

What is the proper way to do this? Thanks in advance for your help!
