I would have sworn that psresize was the solution. What happens is that
resizing has effect for viewing with GGV, but not for printing. 

This could be a bug. psresize should have worked. In any case, not to
spend more time on this problem, I'm giving up for now. I broke down and
bought the gcc book at Barnes and Noble. I hated to spend the money, but
sometimes the convenience is worth it.
