I didn't try exps (hadn't seen that one) but did try protocol=bare and
imps...also found some that suggested adding imps/2 and ps/2 to the grub
config file, still didn't work.  Literally, the only thing to work for me
was to set the Protocol to Auto in the XF86Config file.   I think the
reason adding a kernel parameter didn't work is that it wasn't really a
kernel issue.  It was an X issue.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but the mouse
worked just fine in a console session, but didn't work at all in an X
session.  Sound reasonable?  Anyway, you guys gave me a direction to head
and it helped a lot.  I learned a little more about how things work in
Linux (or, at least, FC3).
