Does anyone have experience with a Linux distro which supports Thai
font? I am hoping for a distro which supports both English and Thai
so that I can do the setup without my friend having to be present to
do translation. My friend prefers to stick with Windows but because
of factors (see History, below) will entertain other solutions.
I found http://www.opentle.org/. I was encouraged to see a few
English words and did download the Live CD. For me, it's a guessing
game as to what means what. I'm a relative newbie to Linux myself so
the language barrier is one more hurdle.
History: I'm trying to help a friend who wishes to communicate with
family in Thailand, using email and Thai fonts. For the most part, my
effort has been with Windows XP Home edition. Now his friend, living
in Thailand, has informed him that he must purchase the XP
Professional to get South East Asia Language Support. That's not
acceptable because of money issues.
I have found a reference to a Firefox/Thai project which offers hope
that he will not need to put his Home Edition away and will be able to
use the results of the Firefox/Thai project on his existing Windows
box. Part of my problem is that he is not always here with me and I
am unable to read Thai fonts myself. So we are proceeding very
slowly.
