OK, but for pure geekdom, you need to buy the 8 color pack of sharpies they
sell.  Then you can even COLOR code the masking tape.

All this fuss!!  Just go tape some masking tape to the server and write the
new name with a black sharpie.

VOILA!  it's done!  And the best part is...you don't even have to lose your
uptime!

IF...you have a KVM, you might want to rename it in the menus there.

If anyone claims to see the old name.. just deny it and point to the masking
tape with the new name.  It works for political figures -- it'll work for
you.

Some people use duct tape for everything, other people use those
fancy-shmancy label makers.  Me?  Masking tape works for me.  I have been
known to use clear scotch -or- packing tape in dire cases of emergency.
