I have an existing wired network with a linux based "router" that 
masquerades to a cable internet connection for some desktops.  Now I 
want to add a wireless segment to connect a desktop on the other side of 
the house.

So, I picked up a pair of 802.11g wireless cards (rt2500 based HWP54G - 
$5 after rebate at Microcenter).  I tried adding one card to the router 
but the system would crash whenever a connection was made (cranky old 
thing).  I tried a couple of different driver versions, settings and 
such but no luck.

Now I am trying to set it up with a wireless card in one of the desktops 
(Linux of course).  My networking knowledge is falling a little bit 
short here.  What is the simplest way to setup the hybrid desktop so 
that the wireless desktop can access the wired network through it?
