I just put this card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833156140
in my girlfriends new (to her) Ubuntu laptop. I was lazy and used
ndiswrapper and the driver on the CD. It works like a champ. Speeds
are good and it worked with waproamd. I know waproamd has been replaced
with wpa_supplicant, but I am lazy and wanted to copy my config files
that are already set up with my known access points :p.
I am under the impression that the card will work fine with open source
drivers, it is listed as a supported card for this driver:
http://acx100.sourceforge.net/
I have not tried the free driver. Maybe one of these days I will get
some gumption and give it a try :).
I believe that card was $20, plus $1.99 shipping. It also came with a
$10 rebate. I personally distrust rebates, though :).
