Thanks for everyone's input and links!

I did my research and decided to go with a Netgear WG311T. I have it
working great with my computer running Ubuntu 5.04, however there was a
little tweaking required. I'd say that it was not "Barnum and Bailey
style workarounds", just tweaking.

I learned not to trust the Ubuntu Universe for packages. It is an ok
starting point, but the version of madwifi that they offer in the
community repositories is very old and didn't support this card.

Thankfully, the Ubuntu wiki is such a good resource. Someone wrote some
excellent instructions that got me up and running very quickly. I think
that this is the one of the largest assets of the Ubuntu distribution.
Most posts tend to assume only a modest familiarity with GNU/Linux when
addressing issues and giving instructions, so it is newbie friendly.

Cybermyth out.
