[NTLUG:Discuss] Humpty Dumpty Syndrome: split and cat on a 5 gig file

Well, I put the file back togetether, and it looks like it is intact. 
It is decompressing to another folder right now.  I did not have to
use an ext3 formatted scratch drive, I just did it in Windows on NTFS.
 In case you all are curious, I did the following:

1. opened windows command prompt
2. changed to directory where files were stored
3.  Typed the following:
     copy \b xa* complete_file.bkf

I had to do it this way since the Gentoo cd has NTFS as read-only.
