Byran, you are right in that I was very unclear as to the target and
purpose of the distro.

The embedded target is a PC104 from Diamond
Systems(http://www.diamondsystems.com). I don't know exactly what he
has ordered or what he will receive. Diamond has several options for
their Linux solutions which provide a complete development on the PC104
target itself and they also seem to have solutions that utilize your
existing Linux desktop(they mention Red Hat as a possibility) to
communicate new code to the target.

The lead engineer has come to me for a recommendation on a distro that
he can play with on a PC(or laptop, not sure) to get a little "hands-on"
with Linux. I believe that he has heard that Linux usually comes with
free compilers. He has been in the game for a while and has programmed
many projects in the DOS environment, but he prefers MS Visual Basic for
all of our PC-based coding projects. I assume this is why he is asking
about a graphical programming environment. It's does sound a little
funny since all of his firmware code for our custom embedded targets is
written in PLM51(!!!) using DOS Edit for a code editor! I'm currently
migrating us over to C.

I hope that this clears up the confusion. Thanks again guys!
