Well, it appears the Intel IOP33x has be going into more products now.
Unfortunately, with the exception of the Promise (sub-$400), none of
them are under $500. But the Promise clearly notable for its PCIe x4
design, which is not-so-uncommon on new nForce4 Ultra/SLI mainboards.

Still, a sub-$300 design is sorely needed, possibly a sub-$150 2-channel
design like the $125 3Ware Escalade 8006-2 for 64-bit PCI/PCI-X. So
far, everything under $150 has been "FRAID" (fake RAID, 100% software
driver, limited Linux compatibility).
