Why not have all of those available to you? I typically install KDE,
Gnome, and a few others. Then, at login, select which one you
want to use that time. By far, I mostly use KDE. I haven't explored
the others that much. There seemed to be a lot more tools in KDE
than the others (at least with the Mandrake distro). The only
downside I know of is your home dir gets a little cluttered (configs
for each windowing env). Not a big deal, really. Oh, and don't
bother trying KDE's browser. Use Firefox (mozilla.org) or other favorite.
