As much as I've been a GNOME bigot since 1.05, the gentleman
said he liked KDE in the past, so he should stick with what
he knows and likes.

There's something to be said about familiarity.

Furthermore, Chris' point on distro selection affecting GUI
framework support is very applicable.  KDE is a good choice
when going with Xandros (APT-DPKG), Mandriva (SmartPM-RPM),
SuSE (YaST-RPM), etc...
