Well, I have not seen the problem, just discussed the problem on the phone,
and on email. I thought i had in an email where i was told the laptop
recognized the cd as a music cd but i cannot find it.....maybe I was
mistaken, and when attempting to see what files are on the disk by viewing
the cd under windows the laptop thought the cd was a music format(??). I
think this same cd drive has booted an ubuntu install disk but was very very
very slow because of the limited memory and i am not sure it even finished
the installation. I have been very busy lately and I could have made a(n)
error(s) :-) will have to check up on the situation.

I really think slackware is needed because of the small amount of memory
available and choice of light weight window managers (i prefer xfce with
minimal memory especially ) easily available.

I am sure booting from a floppy would work fine........if there was a floppy
drive with the laptop :-) .

When i have an opportunity i will have to see the problem. I think either
the hardware is to old to recognise the cd (which is not my 1st suspicion )
or a wrong setting somewhere is causing the problem.

Thanks,

Tom
