If it's going to work at all it's going to be due to something exotic 
like another NIC in the machine with a 209.?.?.? address, a second IP 
address (209.?.?.?) on the 69.b.c.d NIC, some other protocol (like IPX 
or NetBIOS) between hosts which is making them think IP is working when 
they are really communicating by that other protocol (is this Windows?). 
 I don't know what would happen in a VLAN situation with both subnets.
